Building Safety Department
One of the primary purposes of the Town of Smyrna Building Safety Department is to ensure the safe and lawful use of buildings and properties by enforcing the Town's nationally recognized building, plumbing, mechanical, gas, and electrical codes. Our work includes performing plan examinations, issuing construction documents, and performing inspections. We also issue Certificates of Occupancy, which signify that the structure has been inspected for compliance with all adopted codes. We are committed to safety, service, and integrity.
While the department's most frequent customers are building owners, developers, architects, engineers, and members of the construction industry, we also serve the citizens of Smyrna. Anyone who intends to demolish, alter, build an addition, or erect a new structure must first obtain the appropriate permit from this department. This ensures that the structure, whether residential, commercial, or industrial, complies with all applicable codes and ordinances.
