Requesting a Police Report (Accident, Arrest, Offense)
- Important Notes:
- Reports are generally available 72 hours after the incident.
- All requests require a Tennessee ID or proof of Tennessee residency.

Submit your request through the Town of Smyrna Open Records Portal
TN Crash reports can be obtained online here . The 9 digit reference number (YY00XXXXX) provided by the officer is required to use this method. - These records are restricted to
- Any person named in the motor vehicle accident report. This includes drivers, passengers, and property owners listed in the report.
- An agent, legal representative, or attorney of any person or property owner named in the report. They must provide certification of permission from the person they represent. This often applies to insurance companies acting on behalf of an involved party.
- The owner of any real property listed in the report.
- Any federal, state, or local governmental agency or any private person or entity acting on behalf of such an agency. Examples include Carfax and LexisNexis, which may use the personally identifying information in carrying out agency functions.

- Information Needed to Process Your Request: Please provide as much of the following as possible:
- Name(s) of individuals on the report.
- Case Number (if provided by the officer).
- Date of Birth or other identifying information to help locate the report if a case number is unavailable.
Criminal History Checks
- Local Criminal History Check (Smyrna City Limits):
- Processed during Records' normal business hours.
- Note: These checks are not certified and reflect records available at the time of request.
- Arrest Dispositions and Certified Copies related to court matters can be obtained at the Court Clerk's Office or by calling (615) 355-5732.

Solicitor's Permit Checks
- Obtain applications Online or at Smyrna City Hall, 315 South Lowry Street, Smyrna, TN.
- Submit completed applications to the Town Clerk via email or at Smyrna City Hall, 315 South Lowry Street, Smyrna, TN during normal business hours. All payment is due upon submission of the application
- Criminal history checks are processed through Smyrna Police Dispatch and become available at Smyrna Police Records after 72 hours during normal business hours.
Fingerprinting Services
- Please Note: The Smyrna Police Department does not offer fingerprinting services.
- For Background Checks (Tennessee Applicant Processing Services - TAPS):
- The State of Tennessee has established the TAPS program for fingerprint-based background checks.
- Information, including statewide locations, can be found on the TBI Website
- The State of Tennessee, TBI, and FBI use IdentoGo as their vendor for criminal history background checks.
- For Immigration Purposes:
- Contact the USCIS Citizenship Resource Center for instructions on obtaining immigration-related fingerprints.
Citation Payments
- The Smyrna Police Department Records Division DOES NOT accept payments for citation fines.
