Love Where You Live
Love Where You Live is the Town's community beautification initiative with the goals of:
- Increasing pride in our town
- Raising awareness about litter and its effect on our community
- Identifying factors that contribute to litter
- Providing education about how we all can help reduce litter
- Creating an interactive process to encourage community involvement
- Incorporating citizen feedback to determine solutions
DID YOU KNOW?
- Motorists generate 52% of litter along roadways and highways. That’s 6,729 items per mile! (Keep America Beautiful)
- Litter cleanup costs the U.S. more than $11.5 billion each year. (Keep America Beautiful)
- 15% of littering is caused by already existing litter. (Keep America Beautiful)
WHY THIS MATTERS
- Rainfall washes litter into storm drains.
- Storm drains lead to creeks and rivers.
- Those waterways lead to our drinking water reservoirs.
