Sharp Springs Natural Area is the largest park in the Smyrna Park System with 360 acres of land within its boundaries. The property is leased from the United States Army Corps of Engineers. When originally opened in 1997 the park consisted of 100 acres while 260 acres were added 3 years later. The park still has many undeveloped areas and is home to an abundance of wildlife and plants native to the area.

Bark Springs Park is located within Sharp Springs Park and is a perfect place to let your dogs run around and socialize in an enclosed area. There are separate areas for large and small dogs. There is easy access to Bark Springs Park from Espey Drive.

The developed part of the property consists of 5 shelters, numerous practice fields, restrooms, hiking trails and two greenway trailheads. An outdoor classroom, fire pit, 18-hole disc golf course, and fishing piers have been added in order to focus on getting citizens outdoors. Four “catch and release” ponds exists on the property as well. Three of the five shelters in the parks are named after former town employees who were instrumental in developing and maintaining the park system.
